We have taken a bit of a hiatus from live shows in recent months while we retool our ensemble in preparation for our upcoming SXSW mini-tour and a slew of Omaha shows in March and April.  Our new drummer Jeremy Stanosheck (formerly of such notable Omaha bands as Magic Kiss and Kite Pilot) slipped seamlessly into the cockpit and has been piloting the drums with power and precision we never thought possible.  So far, our set consists of Take a Hike, Casanova, Blood Water, Heartifact, and Home Office, which are all from past or upcoming releases, as well as Bite Marks, which has so far only been available in live form on Daytrotter and NYCTaper.  We also have some completely new tunes (we’re talking never played in public before) which are tentatively titled “Your Pretty Face” and “Two Fins, Two Gills.”  We played all of these tonight, and we’ve got the old ones almost up to the same level they were at with Jason and Matt.  In addition to these, we’ll have one or two more brand-spankin’-new tunes ready to go by the time we hit the road in March.

In other news, the Motif (my new keyboard), while powerful, is proving extremely frustrating to operate.  I’m going to have to hit up Jai Raj to give me another lesson.  He is moving into his new house next weekend, so maybe we can work out a deal where I help him schlep a few loads of stuff in exchange for another Motif programming lesson.  I know that you are all on the edge of your seats waiting to find out how this effort turns out.  For now, though, you’ll have to wait…stay tuned for further Motif progress reports!
